The Cerritos PTO sponsors fundraisers and events throughout the school year for the students and teachers at Cerritos. We are volunteers who come together to work on programs that benefit the educational experience of our children.

Activities are all volunteer-run and we operate on a budget developed through our fundraising efforts. The Executive Board consists of 11 parent-filled positions and 3 positions filled by Cerritos staff. There are over 30 committees that work throughout the school year.  Learn more About Us >

Here are some of the items your fund raising dollars support:

$8,100 for teacher grants. Each full time teacher is given $200.00 per year to purchase additional educational items they need for their classrooms. Part time teachers are given $100.00 per year.

$8,000 for "Special Projects". In the past few years, we've used this fund to erect two shade structures on the playground to help keep our children cool. This year, the money will be spent sending our teachers and staff to a three day seminar at Cerritos. The seminar will focus on 21st century teaching skills and how to bring out the leader in each and every child at Cerritos.

$3,000 for classroom subscriptions. The PTO pays for subscriptions to various educational magazines/publications for each grade level. "Time for Kids" is just one example.

$2,100 for agendas. The PTO purchases all of the agendas for 3rd, 4th & 5th grade students.

$3,000 for "Staff Special Request". This money is set aside for special, sometimes high ticket items that our teachers can really use. For example, we've purchased covered wagons for the special needs children to use on outdoor field trips. We've also purchased stereo equipment for our music teacher. Requests are submitted in writing and voted on by the board.

$5,500 for office printer cartridges, paper & supplies for the work room. The PTO supplements what the Kyrene School District provides. Due to tight school district budgets, this additional support is vital.
